What’s this all about? Well, I figured it’s time to stop having all my research in a million different places, and to try and bring it all together somewhere that everyone who wants to access it, can access it.
Whether it’s genealogy, history, Ulster-Scots, natural history, or theology; I hope to collate all my research and occasional musings (in different categories), here.
I was doing some research recently on the Herons and the Roys; my grandfather’s and grandmother’s people, respectively. I found myself frustrated that documents and notes and photos are in a million different places, digitally and physically. “If I could have a chain of blog posts about my research”, I thought, “this would make my life so much easier, and I’d be able to share it so much more quickly and accessibly!” Especially those with a lay-interest who don’t want to trawl through place-names and dates, trying to make out 17th century handwriting; or worse, my handwriting. This is inspired, greatly, by Susan Tichy’s outstanding website, Magruder’s Landing, where she catalogues her family, the Magruders’, journey from Scotland to America, and all the twists and turns in-between.
I’d also like to have a section where I can write my own opinion-pieces, but that’s self explanatory.
Anyhow, that’s the gist of it, and I hope to get the first post up soon. It should be about the Morrows of Poyntzpass.
If you’re reading this, I hope you enjoy!
